NABILA SAFITRI
TEKNIK LINGKUNGAN ITB 2017
Nabila’s first MUN is at ALSA UNPAD in DISEC council, double delegate. Unfortunately, her partner can’t come so she has to continue her first MUN as a single delegate. She read legal documents and news articles for her preparation. Although she didn’t prepare for motions and topics, she managed to speak at every comittee session and almost at every motion. She believes that the point of doing MUN is to speak up your view regarding the country, because if you don’t do so then what’s the point of joining MUN? Moving on to the unmoderated caucus which she struggles a little bit because she can’t figure out her stance and with whom should she really side. She claims that the working paper and draft resolution was okay because lots of people in her block were helpful. She thinks that MUN was fun ,she learns a lot from it but then it got a little exhausting in the end. She will do another MUN but at the mean time she wants to focus at her academic life.
RAELIS WIBISONO
SEKOLAH BISNIS DAN MANAGEMEN ITB 2020
Raelis’s first MUN is Parahyangan MUN, three years ago. He did routine practice in his high school trained by the alumnae who is now studying International Relation and has chaired for MUNs. Raelis spoke around 5 or 6 times in the first day. He prepared for his motions and he successfully passed the motion raised by himself which is the employment of refugee. He was clueless on the unmoderated caucus and he did not contribute enough at the draft resolution. His first MUN was fun because he was able to challenge himself but at the same time it was exhausting because people are not as nice as they seem. MUN has taught him to be more diplomatic in presenting a point of view.
JOVAN
FAKULTAS TEKNIK INDUSTRI ITB 2018
Jovan’s firs MUN is at ALSA Unpad MUN. Before the MUN , he researched about his country, topics motions , and the council mandate. He managed to speak at every moderated caucus. There were two blocks in the council and the unmoderated caucus was great. He believes he still needs guidance on doing the working paper and draft resolution. Overall, his first MUN was insightful and fun. He learns to be more diplomatic on his upcoming MUNs.
JINGGA
SEKOLAH TEKNIK ELEKTRO DAN INFORMATIKA ITB 2018
Jingga’s first MUN was held by Universitas Parahyangan and she was one of the delegates at the UNSC council. Her preparation before the MUN was basically arranged by GMUNC (weekly speech practices) and she also researched for the substance on her own. Out of 8 comitee session she felt ike she only spoke in like, 6, because two of them were so out of topic haha. She prepared for the motions she raised, but mostly were on the spot/spontaneous. She claimed that the unmoderated caucus was dominated by people with loud voices. There were 3 draft resolutions on the council. She thought the MUN was 40% fun, 40% worthwile, and 20% exhausting. Lessons learned after her first MUN : Dont be afraid to voice my opinion out loud, Stand with what i belief in till the end, Public speaking skills, Be compassionate to others.
ANDIVA
SEKOLAH BISNIS DAN MANAGEMEN ITB 2021
Andiva’s firs MUN was Brawijaya MUN. She asked to her senior to train her about doing the research on the topic. Although it was her first MUN, she mostly talked at every motions and pretty much at every comitee session . She didn’t really prepare for the motions but she did prepare for the topic. Unmoderated caucus for her was quite hard because she tend to stay silent and listen. The working paper and draft resolution was quite confusing to her. Her first MUN was really fun and the challenge thrills her so much.Lessons learned from her first MUN is how to work with others and be more convincing.
JOSEPHINE EMMANUEL
SEKOLAH ARSITEKTUR PERENCANAAN DAN PENGEMBANGAN KEBIJAKAN ITB 2018
Josephine’s first MUN was at Universitas Padjajaran. For her preparation, she conducted a lot of research concerning the topic and practiced MUN-related skills, such as public speaking and focused group discussions. She spoke every time a motion is raised, sometimes more than once. She said it was owing to the fact that the council she participated in was UNSC, which has relatively few members. She tried to prepare the topics as well as I could, though I did not have enough time to prepare each motion specifically. For her, The unmoderated caucus experience for me was rather fun, because it was in the unmod that you could truly get to know and interact with the people in your council. She was the main sponsor of a DR, which I also largely constructed. It was rather thrilling since despite being her first MUN, she was entrusted enough to present a DR. It was certainly lots of fun, yet also very consuming in terms of health and energy. Since she was not feeling well even before the competition, she ended up ill the whole of the following week after the competition. She succeeded received an Honorable Mention .Most certainly, she believed the benefits reaped from an MUN experience is worth all the trouble (and tribulation) before, throughout, and after the event. The most important lesson she learned from her first MUN is not to stress too much and just enjoy the fun. At the end of the day, for her, MUN is not about winning or losing. It is about knowing and understanding people. MUN teaches me how to cooperate with strangers and maneuver between interests in order to reach the best result for ever.
