Venue

The premiere of Surabaya Highschool English Debating Championship or SHEDC will be held in Universitas Ciputra. As one of the most prestigious university in Surabaya, UC has recently entered parliamentary debating after years of stellar achievements in Debat Psikologi — and with admirable achievements too, nonetheless.

Universitas Ciputra resides in West Surabaya, a newly-developed area with ranges of nearby shopping malls (Pakuwon Mall, Lenmarc) and food districts (G-Walk, Loop Graha Family, Pasar Modern) with various delicacies ranging from Chinese food to local Surabayan food, from halal to not-so-halal foods. So, while you’re debating at day, limitless entertainment awaits you at night!

Accomodations

All participants will not be provided any accommodations. However, here is some list of recommendations for your stay during the tournament.

Fave Hotel Graha Agung Surabaya – ~ Rp360.000 – Rp400.000 per night.
Airy Citraland International – ~Rp300.000 per night.

Eligibilties Policy

Eligibilites Policy

SHEDC will employ following policies for the tournament.

Team Cap: 32 teams maximum.
No Institutional Team Cap: Each schools are allowed to send any number of team(s), with first come first serve basis.
No N1 Policy: SHEDC will not open registrations for institutional adjudicators, as we will subsidize highly experienced and accredited judges (most of them are JOVED’s invited adjudicators who extend their stay in Surabaya) and thus, there’s no need for institutional adjudicator.
Composite Team Allowed: SHEDC will allow team to compete — i.e. team that comprises of debaters coming from different high schools — as long as all 3 (three) of the members are senior high school students, and have not graduated yet by the time of the tournament.composite

Registration Fee is Rp450.000,- / team.

Registration Timeline

Here is some important dates on SHEDC’s registrations!

11 February – 26 May: Open Registration

Registrations will not be divided into phases. Instead it will be done by first come first serve basis. Your slot will only be secured after you have successfully registered and completed your payment. We will close the registration before 26 May if there are already 32 teams that have completed their registration fee.

In this phase also you will also be required to fill in all details including your team name, institutions, and other personal data.

27 May – 8 June: Final Mainlist, Individual Registration

We’ll announce the finalised mainlist for the tournament in social medias and in your representative email.

We’ll also send re-confirmations email regarding your personal registration, whether there’s mistakes or revisions in the data (for tab and certificates purpose)

13 June – 14 June: SHEDC D-Day!
